March 2004: Health and Safety Topics for Early Childhood Educators. This edition includes an array of resources related to young children’s health and safety. Many are excerpts from NAEYC publications. A comprehensive resources list includes links to a number of useful Web sites. This installment includes an overview of a new online feature: Voices of Practitioners: Teacher Research in Early Childhood Education, with an example of teacher research. Visitors also will find an update about NAEYC’s new early childhood program standards.
January 2004: Child and Program Assessment: Tools for Educators. This installment is filled with useful resources on assessment. It includes longer versions of two articles from Young Children and several additional informative pieces about assessment. Visitors will also find two Viewpoint articles and an article about a busy and thoughtful young learner.
November 2003: Using Technology as a Teaching and Learning Tool. Most of the featured articles and resources supplement the cluster of articles on using technology with young children. Also included is an article about a unique and highly successful family involvement program.
September 2003: Encouraging Young Children to Develop and Enhance Their Thinking Skills. Some of these resources appeared in Young Children. In addition, visitors will find articles about children using drawing to enhance their learning and a child demonstrating his scientific thinking. There is a list of children’s books related to thinking and a Research in Review column on kindergarten entry that also appears in Young Children.
July 2003: Preventing and Responding to Behaviors That Challenge Children and Adults. The resources included here repeat and build on articles published in Young Children. Also included are suggested sites for families on vacation.
May 2003: Play for All Young Children. Most of the featured articles and resources supplement the cluster of articles on play published in Young Children. Also included are a proposal for an addendum to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and an article about preventing child abuse and neglect and promoting healthy social and emotional development.
March 2003: Teaching and Learning about Early Literacy. These resources repeat and build on materials published in Young Children. There are handouts on reading aloud with children of all ages and a checklist of practices that promote literacy. Also included is a Viewpoint on the use of content standards and links to K-12 National Content Standards.
January 2003: Teaching and Learning about Math. These resources on young children and mathematics accompany articles published in Young Children. In addition, visitors will find a glossary of math terms and a list of children’s books related to mathematical concepts.
November 2002: Men in the Lives of Children. This month's collection accompanies the cluster of articles on fathers and male teachers. It includes one of the articles that appeared in Young Children and several new pieces about the important roles of men as fathers and teachers. Visitors will also find a list of children’s books featuring men in the lives of children.

The resources included in this collection accompany "Science in the Preschool Classroom: Capitalizing on Children's Fascination with the Everyday World to Foster Language and Literacy Development," an article published in Young Children.
